Fiction

Most of my writing throughout my life has been centered around fiction. I wrote my first story before I could print the words: my mom wrote out the story for me, and I drew the pictures. I was recognized in grade school, middle school, and high school for my fiction writing. Read my story of how I came to be writing Fantasy Fiction or about my novel-writing apprenticeship.

I began work on the Legendarium of Raya when I was in middle school. It has changed quite a bit as I and the world have matured, and it remains a lifelong project. In 2009 I finished a novel based on the Raya Legendarium called Looming Thunderheads, meant to be the beginning of the Redemption Saga.

My first completed contemporary-fiction novel was Angie Star, which I first wrote in 2006.

Since I finished my PhD in 2017, I've been primarily focused on writing and workshopping short fiction. I've finished quite a few stories, and many of them are now on submission.

When I began grad school in 2010, and as I've been focusing on short fiction in the years since, I have not spent as much time writing novels. I've been developing a fantasy novel called Death and Life, a re-imagining of the story of The Invasion from my novel-writing apprenticeship, but the writing has been slow because of other projects.
